Sega Mega Drive Mini Announced

Firstly, let's address the elephant in the room, SEGA are releasing a Genesis Mini in September, which is great, but WTF is a Genesis SEGA? Why are you mugging us off by announcing it as a Genesis Sega? IT'S CALLED A MEGA DRIVE, SEGA!

The kids of today have a good choice when it comes to consoles, the main ones being the PS4 or the XBox. Back in the day it was Mega Drive or SNES, Sonic or Mario, Star Fox or Ecco The Dolphin. It was kind of like the beef between Biggie and Tupac if we're being completely honest, you were either SEGA or SNES, Eastside or Westside. Nobody had both, okay some people might have but if you did then your Mum and Dad were definitely still together and you weren't on free dinners at school.... I'M NOT CRYING, YOU'RE CRYING!

We have already had the releases of the Nintendo, SNES, C64 and PS Mini and all have been great for a trip down memory road so why not add the Mega Drive to the collection? At £70 the value you get from these Mini consoles is good considering there are 40 titles pre-installed including the likes of Sonic, Ecco, Alex Kidd, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage and even the cult classic Toejam and Earl ready to plug and play from the box, and that's just to start. We were quite disappointed to hear that Earthworm Jim had been axed from the game catalogue but you can't have it all can you? There is no mention of FIFA Soccer 95 either which was the first FIFA instalment to use club teams and only available on the Mega Drive. You really do learn something new every day don't you. Expect a full game roster to be announced soon.

Okay, so you can buy a ton of Mega Drive emulators on eBay, we aren't saying they're not knocking about but would you rather have a snide or the real deal? When Nintendo released their NES and SNES Mini consoles they sold 10m units without breaking a sweat so you can't blame SEGA for trying to get some of that retro money. We'll be getting one for the Gamer Wager office and all of us are looking forward to hearing that iconic sound SAAAAYYYY-GAAAAA when it switches on.

The Sega Mega Drive Mini will be available in September, you can pre-order now for £70
