Oh shit, here we go again.
By popular demand I am about to tell you all about my experience with Apex Legends. I’ve had a few people who read my last blog come and ask me what I’m gonna write about next and it was only right that I wrote about this. First of all I’m just going to throw this out there and say this game pisses all over Fortnite, it is without a doubt the best Royale game to play right now. It’s everything I love: A first person shooter, there’s this sense of realism to it and no stupid building involved (Also no fall damage, which kinda makes it less realistic, but we move). There’s nothing I would change about this game so this piece should be a little less critical than the last.
So like most people you can imagine I started this game with a few L’s, bare in mind I am still getting the hang of it and there’s a lot I need to learn. Like I haven’t even played as all of the characters yet, which is one thing I love about Apex, everyone you can play as has their own abilities and perks for you to mess around with. I can’t seem to stop using Bangalore though, she has a smoke screen she can throw down for cover when you’re feeling a bit too exposed and the “Double time” ability which lets you run that little bit faster if you’re ever under fire. Me being the run and gun yet strategic shooter that I am, she is the perfect character for me, but don’t forget I can be a bit of pyromaniac so her special ability would obviously end up being an airstrike, for when the firefight turns into a bit of a sticky one. It is as if someone made her just for me, so you can understand why I am quite attached and haven’t had the chance to test out most of the other characters. Although I sometimes love playing as Pathfinder when someone picks Bangalore before me, his grappling hook and zip line abilities are perfect if you love getting around the map quickly. He’s also capable of finding out where the next ring will be but honestly I have never taken the time to use that ability, because I’m too busy getting into the heat of it all. However, as a character Pathfinder can be quite funny, he has this very optimistic outlook and he never seems too serious. Bangalore on the other hand is always on smoke (See what I did there) and that is why she’s my go to character.
This game was definitely a lot easier to adjust to in comparison to Fortnite. You might not believe me but I actually won one of my first games, well technically, I accidentally backed out because I thought my whole squad went down after I died! I started spectating someone else so like Fortnite I assumed we came second place and I was watching another guy gloat on top of my corpse. However, my squad ended up getting the win without me, so it ended up being one of my brother’s first game first win’s instead (Kenny if you’re reading this you still owe me for that one by the way). So yeah, I’ve had a few L’s like that, not as bad as landing in an area full of Mozambique’s or having someone kick you off the spaceship like that fat bastard Gibraltar, but that moment right there is a game I won’t forget. I’ve also had some good times too even when they haven’t always ended with a win, I could rack up 5-10 kills and lose but still get more satisfaction than Fortnite has ever given me. The realism about this game and the fact that you need a squad of people who actually communicate if you want to thrive is what I love about it. Regardless of the outcome, you always end up having fun and for me that’s what gaming has always been about. As competitive as I can be, if I’m not having fun with it I will eventually get bored of it.
Apex is one game that has really kept me glued to my console a bit more than usual these last couple of weeks, in a productive way of course. I really wanted to write about it since you all enjoyed the last blog I wrote, so I had to do my research and get sucked into the game a bit. Might have got a little too lost in it all because I haven’t played much of anything else in the spare time I have but nonetheless, I love this game. This is by far the most enjoyable Royale game out there and it’s free to download! You could never get a game this good 5+ years ago without coughing up a couple quid. I just hope Apex becomes as profitable as Fortnite is because the creators definitely deserve all the accolades; they have really donated a work of art to us. And this is only the first season of Apex so who knows what the people at Respawn Entertainment have in store for us next. Hopefully they have something good lined up so I can share more of my moments with you all. However, until the next piece from me, I’m leaving you all with this.
Meloy Georgio.
