Games to Watch for September 2019

We're getting to that part of the year when the strongest game releases start to hit the marketplace and September is typically a strong month for competitive gaming with plenty of sports and shooter titles dropping.

Here are Gamer Wager's Games to Watch for September 2019

eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer 2020 - Sept 10

XB1, PS4, PC

Konami's latest addition to the Pro Evolution Soccer is the first to bear the new eFootball title as Gerard Pique's eSports company seeks to make a name for itself on the back of the strong relationship between Barcelona and Konami.

The new game is heavily focused on online play with new dribbling skills, and tweaked gameplay mechanics, we're expecting a solid gameplay experience, with a slightly more polished Master League to keep the offline players happy.

FIFA 2020  - Sept 27

XB1, PS4, PC

EA Sports are back again for another year, but where their competitiors over at PES have made smaller incremental changes, FIFA have gone all out, making huge sweeping changes to their modes, adding even more depth to their content and even bringing back the ever-popular FIFA Street mode in the form of Volta. FIFA seem to have listened to the community with plenty of Career Mode and Pro Clubs improvements to appease their often-fustrated offline player base whilst kicking up Ultimate Team a notch again this year. Where people have continually expected PES to improve their content drastically to try and bridge the gap on FIFA, it seems EA have in fact been the proactive ones, looking to widen that gap.

NBA 2K20  – September 6

PC, PS4, XBO, Switch

NBA 2K20 brings competitive basketball back again with big changes where needed and smaller incremental tweaks to what was already working so well and making the franchise so popular.

With little to no competition in their field, NBA 2K is definitely the place to be to test your skill against the world's best year on year and this year is set to be another season of the same.

NFL 20  – September 13

XB1, PS4

Maybe football and basketball aren't quite your thing and you're more of a skates and ice kinda gamer? Well fret not, NHL is back with another installment on Sept 13.

Fans of the series will appreciate the upgraded broadcast package, dozens of new shot animations and new game mode additions whilst casual and first-time players can enjoy top-level authenticity, excellent graphics and a really solid gameplay experience, far superior than any of the other games in the EA Sports catalogue.

Gears 5 - September 6

XB1, Windows

Finally, a game that isn't a sports title, and arguably one of the most sought after and hotly anticipated titles of the year. Gears of War is one of gaming's greatest triumphs and this latest episode in the franchise is unlikely to disappoint. The classic cover shooter mechanics return, along with all of the classic weapon types, but this time slight visual changes are awaiting repeating players.

Early gameplay videos have shown health bars and damage popups, much to the disappointment of a number of core fans of the series. It definitely does feel strange and unusual and takes away from the gritty goriness of the franchise, but that aside, it looks like a great game and one to definitely pick up as probably the strongest entry on this month's list.
